Emotional-Social Intelligence (ESI)
Leadership in the 21st Century is experiencing a much needed renaissance around the world, and in all sectors of our “performance & experienced-based” global economy. A renaissance which redirects leadership in the service of the human spirit, and towards the growth of human potential. The foundation of this leadership renaissance is Emotional-Social Intelligence or ESI. Howard Gardner, Co-Director of Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and author of Intelligence Reframed-Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century, reminds us that Emotional-Social Intelligence is actually comprised of the intra-personal or self-awareness intelligence and the inter-personal intelligence. Unlike IQ, EQ or Emotional Intelligence can be learned and is the differentiating variable between effective and ineffective leadership. There are five components of Emotional Intelligence or EQ;
- Self Awareness
- Social Skills
The world class educators and performing artists of Inspire! Imagine! Innovate! are certified practitioners and facilitators of the Baron EQ-i and Baron EQ-i 360; recognized as two of the most trusted, practical and relevant Emotional-Social Intelligence surveys to assess, develop and strengthen emotional intelligence for application to the workplace. There are multiple applications of Emotional-Social Intelligence to organizational initiatives like selection, leadership development, team building, succession planning, organizational effectiveness, cultural competence and performance management.
Emotional-Social Intelligence is also the basis for Global Leadership acumen which integrates cultural competence and cross-cultural communications into the portfolio of skills required for leading workgroups, teams and organizations comprised of multiple cultures, time zones and locations. The recent results of the GLOBE Study conducted by the Thunderbird School of Global Management and Wharton, is the first global leadership research project which identifies those universal leadership characteristics which, 1. Contribute to a person being seen as an outstanding and effective leader, 2. Inhibit a person from being seen as an outstanding and effective leader, and 3. Are culturally contingent. The Cultural Orientations Indicator® (COI®) is the most trusted and relevant survey for assessing, developing and reinforcing cultural competent supervisors, managers and leaders who work with colleagues, clients and suppliers of diverse cultures. When used separately or in conjunction with the Baron EQ-i or Baron EQ-i 360, the Cultural Orientations Indicator® (COI®) generates an analysis of cultural gaps by comparing your COI® cultural profile with national and regional cultural profiles and it reveals similarities and differences as well as potential culture-based risk and success factors. On the basis of these results, individuals can develop effective cross-cultural management, leadership and business strategies.
We would be pleased to discuss with you how the Baron EQ-i or the Baron EQ-i 360 online assessments of Emotional-Social Intelligence or Cultural Orientations Indicator® (COI®) could be integrated into a personal and professional development curriculum, with experienced-based learning reinforcement, for application to your employees, team members, leadership team or in-house leadership development program. Emotionally intelligent leaders learn to engage the human spirit and develop the human potential of their employees, which inspires people to reach their fullest potential while also serving the business objectives of the organization.
